Here, we round up all the hot news and rumors about the new features, specs, release date, price and color options of the iPhone 9.

The iPhone 9 could possibly be launched alongside with its bigger siblings the iPhone 9 plus and probably the iPhone 9 SE as well. The iPhone 9 plus is predicted to have the same size as the iPhone 8 Plus but with a bigger display, while the iPhone 9 SE might have the same size as iPhone SE but with a 4.7-inch display.

Apple usually announce its iPhone during a special event held the first or second Tuesday or Wednesday of September. From here we can predict that Apple will announce the upcoming iPhone 9 on Tuesday, September 11 or Wednesday, September 12, 2018 and we might get the iPhone 9 release date on Friday, September 21, 2018.

How many new iPhones Apple will be launching in 2018?

So, how many new iPhones Apple will be launching in 2018? Well, we don’t know it yet, but it is predicted that we will see an updated version of the iPhone X which may be called the iPhone XI or iPhone 11. We might also see a larger version of the iPhone X which may be called the iPhone X Plus.

KGI Securities’ analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expected that Apple could launch three new iPhones in the autumn of 2018 alongside with a new iPhone SE model which is predicted to be launched in the spring.

However, latest rumour suggests that Apple will only launch two new iPhones, the 5.85 inches model and the 6.46 inches model.

Specs

So, what’s new on the 2018 iPhones? Super Retina Display is one of the most expected feature to be arrived on the upcoming iPhones, just like those on the iPhone X. 5.8-inch OLED display with 2436 x 1125-pixel display resolution on the iPhone X has amazed us so we are hoping that the iPhone 9 will have at least the same Super Retina Display.

According to a report from the WSJ in September 2017, Apple had expressed an interest in ordering LCD displays from Japan Display. So, what does it mean? This could possibly mean that we will still see OLED display for the upcoming iPhone, but for the premium models only.

The next feature to be expected to arrive on the 2018 iPhone models is the Face ID. Apple is predicted to put an all-front Super Retina display on the iPhone 9, so we could also see the face ID on the phone.

The iPhone 9 is also predicted to be powered by Apple A12 chip with some improvements on performance and battery life. The iPhone 9 is also expected to feature wireless charging. Apple had patented a system for charging mobile devices wirelessly, so we can expect to see the wireless charging feature on the iPhone 9.
